UK Fiance Visa

If you want to join your fiancé(e) in the UK to get married, you can apply for a Fiancé Visa. This permit allows non-EEA nationals to stay in the country for six months to marry a British Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Once settled in the UK, you can change your status to a Spouse Visa. You will then be allowed to live and work in the UK until you qualify for British Citizenship.

To qualify for a Fiancé Visa, your partner must be a UK citizen or Indefinite Leave to Remain holder.

You will need to prove to the Home Office that your relationship is genuine, as well as that you meet the further requirements:

  • You intend to get married within six months of your entry in the UK;
  • You have strong English language skills;
  • You and your partner have sufficient funds to support yourselves;
  • You must have met each other in person at least once before your application;
  • You have proof of adequate accommodation in the UK;
  • Your British fiancé must be earning a gross income of at least £18,600.

How long does a Fiance Visa UK last?

A Fiancé Visa is valid for six months from the moment it is issued. During this time, you must get married in the UK.

Once you are legally married, you can stay in the UK until the expiration of the visa. If you want to settle in the UK, you must apply for a UK Spouse Visa. After 60 months of lawful status as a partner, you can qualify for British Citizenship or residency.
